August 2012 Newsletter

I hope you have had a great summer and that you are starting to feel some recovery from the recent recession. We are so fortunate to have a positive impact from tourism in this area. Hopefully, you have taken time to educate yourself and your staff about why tourism is so important to all of us, and to focus on how we can make a difference on the future impact of tourism. Bill Stevens, Tourism Director for Trigg County, is hosting our next Lunch and Learn series to be held this Wednesday at noon. I hope you will make plans to attend. WE ARE ALL IN THE TOURISM BUSINESS!

Our Chamber fiscal year has started with a bang. We have more than a 55% membership renewal rate to date, and we are on track to make our goal of 250, which would be a record year. Beyond that, we want to make sure that we have an active membership. There are several events planned already that will have a positive impact on your business. Save these dates and enjoy the benefits of being a Chamber member:

October 8 – Ham Festival Kickoff Breakfast (tickets available soon), hosted by the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce
October 18 – Decision 2012: Trigg County Election Forum – Get to know all of the candidates on your local General Election ballot, hosted by WKDZ/WHVO, Cadiz Record, and the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce. Decision 2012 will be held in the Little Theatre at Trigg Schools.

July 2012 Newsletter

Dear Chamber Members,
First, let me extend a huge kudos to you for an incredibly successful 2011-2012 Trigg County Chamber year. Under Mallory Lawrence’s leadership, your Chamber just celebrated several milestones that will help us all take our local Chamber to a new high. WE have huge momentum as we kick off the 2012-2013 fiscal year.

I’d like to encourage you to go ahead and renew your Chamber membership now, so you can take full advantage of all it has to offer. If you are not attending the FREE Lunch and Learn series, perhaps this will be the year that you decide that they are a good investment of one hour per month of your time. I can assure you that you will learn something that is helpful to you and your business at EVERY session, and it’s an excellent lunch (at no charge to you, thanks to our sponsors) plus, it is a fantastic time to network with other business owners and managers. The dates have been set for the next year and are included in this newsletter, so you can make plans early to attend.

We are now accepting applications for Leadership Trigg County. EVERY member of the Inaugural Class has expressed tremendous excitement about the overall experience of learning about all aspects of Trigg County including agriculture, media, government and justice system, arts and heritage, tourism, military affairs, education, and business/industry. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the community we serve and to enhance your leadership skills at the same time. The deadline to apply is July 31st.

Don’t forget that when you join the Trigg County Chamber, you also receive all of the benefits of the Christian County Chamber. Having lived and worked in both of these JULY 2012 Celebrating 49 Years! communities for 28 years now, I can tell you that Chamber has been by far the best networking platform for business that I have found and experienced.

YOUR Chamber is only as good as its members, and the overall Chamber experience is what you make it. I challenge you to maximize the benefits of Chamber and to allow your Chamber involvement to help you and your business to become more successful.

We certainly will set a goal to have the most members ever in Trigg Chamber, but the real success will be measured when we have the most ACTIVE Chamber membership ever. Here’s to a great year. If I can help you in any possible way, please do not hesitate to ask.

– Beth Mann
